Product Description

C57BL/6 Mouse Primary Alveolar Epithelial Cells from Cell Biologics are isolated from lung tissues of pathogen-free laboratory mice and then grown in gelatin pre-coated tissue culture flask with Cell Biologics’ Complete Growth Medium. The cells at passage 2-3 are harvested from flasks and cryo-preserved in vials. Each vial contains 0.5x10⁶ cells per ml and is delivered frozen. These primary epithelial cells are isolated using an optimized Cell Biologics methods based on established references. These cells are pre-coated with EpCAM-1 (CD326) antibody, followed by the application of magnetic beads pre-coated with secondary antibody.

Product Testing

C57BL/6 Mouse Primary Alveolar Epithelial Cells are characterized by immunofluorescent staining with E-cadherin (Catalog 610182, BD),  ZO-1(Catalog 617300, Life Technology) antibodies or Supernatant (T1 alpha). T1 alpha was identified by a monoclonal antibody previously shown to be specific for an antigen expressed by alveolar epithelial type I cells. These cells are negative for bacteria, yeast, fungi, and mycoplasma. Cells can be expanded for 2-3 passages at a split ratio of 1:2 under the cell culture conditions specified by Cell Biologics. Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.

Laboratory Applications

C57BL/6 Mouse Primary Alveolar Epithelial Cells can be used for the assay of cell-cell interaction, adhesion, PCR, Western blot, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescent flow cytometry, or generating cell derivatives for desired research applications.

Storage

Cells are shipped with dry ice overnight. Upon arrival, immediately transfer frozen cells to liquid nitrogen (-180 °C) until ready for use. Live cell shipment is also available on request. Primary cells can never be kept at -20 °C or -80 °C freezer.
